The Wardens of the Gates of Silence (Ennu Mekhar-Thakkan) are a pack of uratha active in the 2000s that claim territory in and under the neighbourhood of Lennox Circle, particularly around the abandoned Dekker Street subway station. The pack was formed after the chaos of the Nights of the Broken Moon by a ghost-haunted Valkyrja seeking to make something of the mess that is Blackmouth, and attracted a handful of other wolves who had lost pack and kin in those harsh nights.

Through the years that followed they have carved out their territory around the strange liminal place that Dekker Street has become, excising the worst of the cancers beneath Lennox and started to bring some balance to the twisted Hisil there. They have also suffered losses, most recently in 2005 when a twisted ghost-magath tore its way out of Shadowlands on Devil's Night and slew two of the pack before it could be driven out of the world.

Now only Morrigan and Jack are left of the first Wardens. New blood fills the pack. First a young Iron Master that Jack recruited to protect her from any lingering violence, then a new cub who swore himself to the Bone Shadows almost as soon as he Changed, and now four nuzusul linked by dark dreams and strange skeins of fate. And with those four came concerns outside their territory, and perhaps it was time to try and mend the old rifts for the better of the whole city.

Totem: The Star-Eyed Watcher (Nirithall-igim)

Nirithall-igim is a strange and distant spirit of liminality and boundaries, capable of great perception but rarely speaking of the manifold sights he has seen. He manifests as slender and androgynous figure that resembles a fantasy artist's interpretation of a Celtic warrior, with twin stars burning in his eye sockets and long night-dark hair full of constellations. He is a distant and aloof figure, even to the pack dedicated to protect his place of power, and limits his manifestations to the immediate surroundings of Dekker Street and the dreams of the Wardens.

Members

  • Morrigan Rises-Above-Demons: Hunter in Darkness Rahu, member of the Valkyrja Mot. Iron-willed warrior-queen and founder of the pack.
  • Jack Crow: Iron Master Ithaeur. Easy-going, not-quite-PC urban shaman who remembers the old days of the city.
  • Willow: Iron Master Irraka. Elusive urban artist who prefers her own company, even after Jack recruited her to the Wardens.
  • Lucan Black: Bone Shadow Cahilith. Pretty-boy musician, quintessentially goth. No longer the new kid since the four dream-haunted arrived.
  • Michael Rathlin: Irraka. One of the four dream-haunted wolves.
  • Jerome Gévoudan: Rahu. One of the four dream-haunted wolves.
  • Atlas: Ithaeur. One of the four dream-haunted wolves.
  • Winters: Elodoth. One of the four dream-haunted wolves.

Associates

  • Vic Kinsella: Morrigan's wolfblooded cousin, leader of a street-racing crew with under underworld connections.
  • Others, not yet known.

Past Members

Three members of the pack have died since the pack was founded. They are memorialised in art on a quiet corner of the walls of Dekker Street.

  • Niall Red-of-Night: Hunter in Darkness Elodoth, founding member of the pack. Died in battle with Beshilu in 2002.
  • Tobias Swims-the-Black-River: Bone Shadow Irraka, founding member of the pack and good friend of Jack Crow. Died on Devil's Night 2005, eaten by ghosts and dragged intot he darkness below.
  • Grey Skies: Storm Lord Cahilith with an affinity for lightning. Survived Devil's Night 2005 but later succumbed to mortal wounds.
