Beneath A Shadowed Sky, Part 1 Beneath A Shadowed Sky, Part 3

In which a lost wolf finds strange travelling companions, the whole pack reaches the Caern of the Shadowed Sky, and the first moot in a decade begins.

What Happened

  • Cold Open: The Interrogation - A man with a slavic accent interrogates a kid from the projects about incidents at Hopkins Street, and about Dr Ethan Winters.
  • Winters wandering, encountered Miranda and Dennis and suffered their patter and condescension en route, slightly saved by Rhian and her cheerful apocalypticism.
  • Reached the moot in time to see the encounter between Atlas and Baishan, instigated by Jenny and defused by Dominic.
  • The four new wolves encountered James Rojas, a detective and member of the Hunters in Darkness who had been investigating the debris in their wake and turned out to have a family connection to Atlas. Details about the violence of the 90s were revealed.
  • Michael talked to Dominic and Semira about joining the Blood Talons.
  • The Moot began with a communal howl that stirred old memories and powerful emotions among all but the members of the Temple of Apollo, and which called Great Ukledakhag to receive the offers laid for him on the stone table. He gave his blessing for the moot to begin.
  • Post-Credits: A Telephone Call - An unknown man contacts his superiors for assistance after a companion is struck with some sort of artistic fugue or seizure, endlessly drawing shapes that resemble the trees.

Plot Developments & Facts Discovered

  • The Temple of Apollo is a decedent cult-like group of werewolves, two of whom came to the Moot to network.
  • There are werewolves experiencing apocalyptic dreams involving the destruction of the moon. Rhian Tulane is one of them and came to the moot to try and help unify against this impending threat.
  • The violence that broke the werewolf community apart in the 90s was due to Neil McCracken coming to believe that the Iron Masters of Blackmouth had fallen from their Oath and were worshipping Hecate as a false deity. He, his ally Baishan Kensas, and their packs were responsible for killing or driving out most of the Iron Masters of the area. The pogrom only ended when Silvijo Dragić, surviving leader of the local Iron Masters challenged McCracken to ritual combat to excise their perceived sins, a deal brokered by Connall Stonetalker. After Silvijo's death at McCracken's claws, the campaigns of violence ended and the Lightning Chains took over most of the underworld operations that Silvo had commanded.
  • Neil McCracken is considered one of the most dangerous werewolves on the East Coast, and is very influential in the Blood Talons tribe, but he does not control them all and there are Blood Talons who resent and regret the violence of the Nights of the Broken Moon. Dominic is among this number.
  • James Rojas is brother to Atlas' mother. He was friends with her father but their friendship ended when Sgt McCullough's connections to the Ushkovych Family became too deep to ignore. He also seemed to know Winters but did not elaborate. All four PCs got his number in case it was helpful.
  • Rojas had been investigating several incidents tied to the PCs, including Atlas' Change at the 5th Precinct, Winters' violence in the Projects and others. He was content to let Morrigan keep an eye on them after taking the measure of them.
  • Michael asked Dominic about joining the Blood Talons, giving a partially false reason of wishing to protect the people he cares about, rather than the truth that he needs to feel strong to feel safe again after the terrifying experience of the pack brawl in Dekker Street.
